Glossop & High Peak ShopMobility

Glossop Community Transport celebrated its 25th anniversary at Glossop Labour Club on May 18, 2007.

Users, volunteers past and present, and visitors from other groups attended. Previous officers of GCT and Glossop Volunteer Centre, which spawned the CT 25 years ago, talked about the trials and tribulations in the early days. GCT was the first CT in Derbyshire and was used as a model by other schemes.

GCT showed plans for a £1.8 million new building that they are hoping will be funded and built in the town in the next few years. GCT operates 8 vehicles throughout High Peak, providing accessible transport from Glossop and Buxton.

Glossop Community Transport would like to thank Glossop Labour Club, John Mettrick, Derbyshire County Council, Wharmby's, Sue Bennett, Margaret Bailey, Acoustic Collective, Barbara Wardley, Irene Skupham, Charlie Wyness and all staff and volunteers
for supporting our 25th anniversary party.

Fund raising

Glossop Carnival
Glossop Carnival

Glossop Community Transport receives grants and donations but, as with all charities,
it also has to raise funds to cover the costs of providing this very valuable service
to the community.
We also have regular second hand book and bric-a-brac sales from our office on
Chapel Street. We are looking for donations of these items to replenish our stocks.
Fund raising ideas or offers of help are always welcome.
