With over 520,000 new businesses registered in the UK in 2013, Glossop-based marketing agency, Fig Creative, is helping to kick start 2014’s new influx by hosting a free start-up business surgery which aims to help local budding entrepreneurs with their own start-up business plans.
Taking place on 21st January at Fig’s offices on High Street West, the event will see a number of professionals on hand to offer advice and answer any questions from attendees about starting a business.
In attendance will be representatives from High Peak Borough Council, Ridge Insurance, James & Co Accountants and the Royal Bank of Scotland, as well as a number of other local professionals from various sectors and organisations.
“2013 was a fantastic year for start-up businesses in the region and across the UK as a whole,” comments Helen Duncan, managing director at Fig Creative. “We saw an unusually high number of individuals come through our doors seeking help, and with optimism in the UK at an all-time high since the recession 2014 looks to be a perfect year to kick start your plans and make things happen.”
According to website Startupbritain.co.uk, 95% of all businesses launched in 2013 were small ventures launched by individuals. Helen adds: “Starting a business can be daunting at first, but there is so much help available for those ready to take the plunge.
“Our Start-up Business Surgery offers a unique opportunity to get in front of the people that matter, and to ask those questions you need answering to really make a success of yourself. Whether it’s about VAT and tax implications, to simply how to draw up a business plan and market yourself effectively, everything you could possibly need is here all under one roof!”
The free event takes place between 9am and 11am on 21st January, and local entrepreneurs can drop in without making an appointment. Alternatively, for those who cannot make it on the day, Fig Creative can provide its free High Peak Business Start-up Guide.
