"When
I paint I try to get beyond the surface of self to a deeper
self . There is an intereaction of body, mind and spirit and
a unifying process takes place in which opposite principles
are often brought together i.e. the physical and the spiritual.
This results in paintings that cannot always be easily defined,
for I want the paintings to transcend labelling and static
definitions.
I
see my paintings as a kind of yoga and meditation, where my
aim is to create a momentary insight and awakening into the
transience of nature; inside and outside myself.
I hope then, that the paintings transmit a quality of awareness
that is both resting and stimulating, and revelatory rather
than explanatory."
