| Progress
through partnership
The Glossop
Town Centre Partnership was set up in June 2001 following an open meeting
of a wide cross-section of people and organisations with an interest in
Glossop town centre.
The purpose of the partnership is to start
a town centre management initiative taking into account and co-ordinating
the needs of the town centre customers, employees, retailers, business
interests, residents, freeholders, developers and the local authorities.
The partnership feels strongly that young
people have an important role to play in helping to shape the future of
Glossop. Carol Hughes is working to establish links between the partnership,
local schools and the Millennium Centre youth project.
Young people will be asked for their views
about the development of the town centre and also be invited to design
a logo for the partnership.
Membership of the partnership is open to
any person, business or organisation that has a heart for Glossop and is
willing to work together with the other partners to help achieve the vision
and aims. We would particularly like more representation from national
retailers, banks and building societies and small traders. At the moment
membership is free.
