Daybreak TV doctor Hilary Jones visited Tintwistle and Glossop last week to help celebrate the start of a new campaign bringing milk back to the classroom.
All children are entitled to milk in the morning at schools and of the companies tasked with supplying it is Cool Milk. Dr.Hilary is medical advisor for the company and to promote their part in bringing milk to lessons the famous medic has been visiting schools.
On his Glossop stop he visited St Mary’s Catholic Primary and Tintwistle C of E Primary where after taking a special assembly he met lots of the children to give them some special facts on milk and to ask them what they knew about the special white stuff.
Dr. Hilary stressed the importance of the project saying ““It is important that children have access to such a wholesome and nutritional product whilst they are still growing and developing” and said he has enjoyed his time in town “I had a great day; I was very impressed by how much the children at the schools know about milk.”
St Mary’s Head Mr. Simon Groarke whose school have recently won recognition from OFSTED on their healthy eating policies said the day would have a great effect on his pupils as “it has really motivated them to question how the body works and think about making healthier choices.”
Not only was it an educational day for all, it was a fun one too as Tintwistle Primary Head Mrs Griffin said “The children really enjoyed Dr Hilary’s visit, particularly telling him their cow jokes that they have been practising for the past week!”
