The burning of the


The Wicker Man, built over a period of two months by Glossop artist Helen Gerrard, represents the dark, dead days of winter.

By burning him we move on, putting the past behind us, to renewal and rebirth, to new growth and energy and the promise of the sun's light and warmth.

The audience is invited to write down their bad memories and put them in an envelope which is burned with the Wicker Man.

Glossop community artist Penny Wilson invokes the summer with a communal chant. And the sun bursts through the clouds...
