Buzz HawkinsBuzz Hawkins

Best known as the writer, voices and producer of the famous radio comedies The Bradshaws, Buzz Hawkins has lived in Glossopdale for most of his adult life. And, although his theatre tours and radio work mean lots of travel throughout the UK and abroad, he is happiest walking the hills around his home.

Alongside the comedy writing, Buzz is a musician and composer with an interesting catalogue of published works - rock, avant garde, contemporary ballet and, of course, comedy songs.

He's currently working on a new animated cartoon series for television, and a book The Bradshaws Annual which will be published in time for Christmas.

The Bradshaws
2007 saw the release of the Bradshaws Collection: a box set of 25 CDs featuring 300 stories.

Currently the stories can be heard on some forty-odd radio stations around the UK and are now featured on our local station High Peak Radio.

The Bradshaws are real people - anyone who thinks otherwise is fictitious.

BUZZ HAWKINS: THE MAN BEHIND “THE BRADSHAWS”

- producer, writer, composer and performer

Buzz HawkinsBuzz Hawkins is the man behind The Bradshaws. He writes, produces and performs the radio and television stories that are listened to worldwide and have thousands of audio and video sales. (And yes…. he really does do all the voices!) As well as performing his unique brand of comedy all over the Northwest, Buzz is currently producing TV programmes for Granada and writing for BBC Radio 2 and Radio 4. (Watch this space...) His works include TV series: Comedians, Stuart’s Hall of Fame, Foo-Foo and an unforgettable cameo role on Phoenix Nights.

The Bradshaws soapettes originated on radio and have captivated millions of listeners in the UK for many years. Beginning on Piccadilly Radio, they twice won the prestigious Sony award for "The Best Use Of Comedy On Radio".

Following the hit Granada television series The Bradshaws they have taken on a life of their own and are now enjoyed worldwide. As well as on BBC local stations & commercial stations throughout the UK, the Bradshaws stories have recently been broadcast by Arthur Smith on BBC Radio 2 and in faraway places like Dubai, Hong Kong, Australia, New Zealand, Canada, southern Spain and more.

The BradshawsThe Bradshaws are Alf, Audrey and little Billy Bradshaw, an ordinary family living an ordinary life in an ordinary two-up two-down terraced house.  Where? Somewhere in the North.  When? In pounds, shillings and pence time when convenience food was bread and dripping, sugar butties, condensed milk butties… Little Billy is only seven and already a legend in his own bath time.

Billy BradshawAs well as the Bradshaws, Billy has made numerous television appearances all by himself. Billy’s Stranger Danger video is currently in use in thousands of schools.

A special 25 CD Box Set of 300 Bradshaws radio stories is available now, and an animated cartoon series of Billy Bradshaw is in production. Details here.
