Accessible
toiletsThis is used to indicate that a toilet is accessible to wheelchair users. It has wide doors and either level access or a ramp. Most, but not all of these will be unisex cubicles often equipped with various handrails. The standard of these toilets does however vary considerably, particularly with the regard to the amount of space available for transferring from a wheelchair. Accessible toilets in the Glossop area:

| RADAR National Key Scheme:
Some authorities now limit the access to their public conveniences to prevent
vandalism, by fitting a standard lock opened by a special key. The scheme means that the same key can be used to open accessible toilets throughout the country normally allowing 24hr access. Keys are usually available from local authorities or direct from RADAR, who co-ordinate the scheme, at a cost of £3.50 on declaration of disability, or £4.11 without declaration.A list of toilets fitted with the locks is forwarded with each key ordered. RADAR, 12 City Forum, 250 City Rd, London EC1V 8AF. Tel: 020 72509 3222 http://www.radar.org.uk/ |
